In preparation for the event and the most fulfilling experience please:

  • Bring a wi-fi-enabled device (phone, tablet, or laptop)
  • Come prepared with vital information for 2-4 family members born pre-1940 (birthdate, marriage, death date, burial, where they lived)
  • Set up a free account with Family Search at www.FamilySearch.com and bring your login information

COVID 19 Update : Please note that due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic we will be constantly evaluating our class offerings. Now more than ever small businesses need our support. By following CDC guidelines we can continue to offer safe, sanitary, and FUN classes for our community! As long as local guidelines allow us to hold classes we plan to do so with additional precautionary measures as necessary. Please note that masks will be required for this event.

If for any reason you are unable or wish to not attend, your ticket may be transferred to another individual at any time. All ticket sales are final and non-refundable.

In the event we are unable to hold a workshop on the advertised date, attendees will be notified immediately and classes will be rescheduled as soon as we are able to host them again. Attendees will have the option to either attend the rescheduled event, another workshop offered by the same vendor, or transfer their ticket to another individual. Questions? Contact us anytime at hello@thestudio557.com

Meet the Workshop Instructor

Cindy Selensky Foster is a genealogist with over 40 years of experience “hunting dead people” and some living cousins as well! Her interest piqued when, as an 8-year-old, she met her 2nd great aunt. One-hundred-year-old Ella McCartney Selensky was born at the close of the Civil War. Cindy was intrigued by the fact that Ella’s father voted for Abraham Lincoln and was intrigued to learn more about her living at that time. Her journey has led her to discover farmers, preachers, inventors, gold miners, Russian immigrants, patriots of the Revolution, Civil War veterans, and a few scoundrels as well.  With over twenty-five years of teaching experience, she looks forward to helping launch your journey into discovering and documenting the people in your family tree.
